Organisation of Football in Turkmenistan

The organisation of football in Turkmenistan is structured across several levels, allowing clubs to progress or regress based on their performances. This structure is divided into two main tiers.

The pinnacle of the hierarchy is occupied by the Turkmenistan Football League, which is the highest level of Turkmen football. It brings together the best clubs in the country who compete for the title of Turkmenistan champion. The least performing clubs at the end of the season may be relegated to the lower level, the Turkmenistan First Division Football League.

The Turkmenistan First Division Football League is the second level of Turkmen football. It is composed of clubs that aspire to ascend to the Turkmenistan Football League. The most successful clubs at the end of the season are promoted to the Turkmenistan Football League.

Beyond these two levels, there are also regional and local competitions, which allow amateur clubs to participate in organised competitions. However, these levels are not officially recognised in the Turkmen football league system.
